Fall Series: The Philosophy of Data Science
Q: How can the philosophy of science inform the practice of data science?
A: Clarifying a few key concepts in scientific reasoning is a golden ticket to distinguish yourself as an applied data scientist. Far beyond learning fancier models or mastering complex mathematics, your grasp of a few intuitive scientific principles is your surest path to continual growth of understanding and rapidly solving complex real-world data science problems.
The fall series “The Philosophy of Data Science” is the first of an annual series directed at early career statisticians and data scientists, to provide in-depth understanding of a single topic to augment the formal graduate school curriculum.
This series is open to anyone interested in improving their scientific skills as a data scientist or is just generally interested in critical scientific reasoning.
Each published episode is free to watch at anytime. Episodes will be hosted on the Pod of Asclepius social media channels (YouTube, Podbean, iTunes, Stitcher, Podchaser, etc.).
New episodes will be published at 1pm EST every Monday. (Additional “bonus” episodes may be published at 1pm on other weekdays.)
